Course Outline: This is a two year course with a practical focus on participation in a range of different sports. Performance is underpinned with theoretical knowledge in how physiological, psychological and social factors affect sporting performance and the leading of a healthy, active lifestyle. You will need to be a very strong practical performer in a number of sports and be prepared to work hard on the theoretical content.
Assessment to gain the GCSE is based on; Practical Performance in 4 sports (50%). 2 x 1 hour exams in Year 10 (40%). 2 written coursework assignments - 1 completed in Year 9 and another in Year 10 (10%).
Target Level: To start this course in Year 9, students must be very strong practical, sporting performers and have a good Science background. If you are not an outstanding performer, the Entry Level Certificate in PE will suit you best in Year 9, then starting the GCSE PE course in Year 10
Level of Award: Level 2 GCSE from OCR.
