DID YOU KNOW...That parents in England are calling for more males to work in early years settings. 55% of parents say they want male childcare workers for nursery aged children where they can be seen as role models for children. They said that males can offer different skills from the female child carer and this is important especially for children who come from one parent families and whose main carer is female. So, child development is an exciting and interesting option to study for both males and females.

Course feedback from past students:

The Child study was fun and enjoyable, and really gave me practical hands on experience with a child, learning valuable skills such as observation techniques and seeing how a child develops.

We had varied learning activities such as outside risk assessments, guest speakers including a midwife and a health visitor. Parents bought in their newborn baby, and a baby that was being weaned.

The trip to the baby show was really good and gave us the opportunity to meet so many different early years' professionals and look at new products; we were able to gather materials for our short tasks.
