Course Outline: This is a practical course which focuses on the production of a variety of different products created in a variety of different media, including moving image and print. Whilst certification for the First Certificate can be achieved by the end of Year 10; students who wish to achieve further in this course could complete the additional units needed to be awarded the First Diploma in Year 11.
Assessment to gain the First Certificate is based on the completion of:
3 practical units of work over the two year course (Years 9 & 10)
Assessment to gain the First Diploma is based on the completion of:
An additional 3 practical units of work (to be completed in Year 11)
Target Level: To start this course in Year 9, students must have at least Level 5 in English. As the course involves regular use of computers, it is also desirable that students have excellent ICT skills.
Level of Award: First Certificate in Media (equivalent to 2 GCSEs grade A* - C) First Diploma in Media (equivalent to 4 GCSEs grade A* - C)
