Curriculum Area: CRE (Citizenship, Religion and Ethics)
Course Outline: All students will follow the Short Course in Years 9 and 10. This will consist of 2 modules:
Christianity:Worship, Community and Family, sacred Writings.
Ethics: Relationships, Medical Ethics, Poverty and Wealth.
Students will then be offered the opportunity to "top up" this Short Course studying 2 further units:
Christianity: Beliefs, Special Days, Divisions and Interpretations.
Perspectives on World Religions (Christianity): Responsibility for the Planet, War Peace and Human Rights, Prejudice and Equality.
OR
Students will follow a non-examination course which fulfils the statutory requirement for Religious Studies.
Target Level: All students will follow the Short Course.
Level of Award: A*-G (OCR) GCSE Short Course in Religious Studies. Some student will be able to achieve A*-G (OCR) GCSE Full Course in Religious Studies.
End of Course Target: To access AS and A2 Religious Studies or other Humanities subject.
